GROUP FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

All group fitness offerings are free for members & no registration is required!

*must be 13 years or older to attend group fitness classes.*

*3 people must be present at the start of class time to proceed with the session

  • Barre Fitness: Barre Fitness is a fun cardio & toning focused class that will utilize barre for a variety of Ballet, Pilates & Yoga exercises. Participants may be bare foot, wear ballet shoes, socks or other athletic shoes.
  • Barre Tone: Barre Tone is a toning focused class that utilizes barre & various other equipment for strength, balance & flexibility training to bring body changing results.

  • Body Attack™: A high-energy fitness class with moves that cater to everyone from total beginners to total addicts. We combine athletic movements like running, lunging & jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups & squats. A LES MILLS™ instructor will pump out energizing tunes & lead you through the workout challenging your limits in a good way, burning up calories & leaving you with a sense of achievement.

  • Body Combat™: A high-energy martial arts-inspired workout that is totally non-contact. Punch & kick your way to fitness. No experience needed. Learn moves from Karate, Taekwondo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira & Kung Fu. Release stress, have a blast & feel like a champ. Bring your best fighter attitude & leave inhibitions at the door.

  • Body Pump™: A revolutionary barbell workout that challenges all major muscle groups. Class consists of squats, presses, lifts & curls as you strengthen, tone & define your entire body. You determine the level you’ll work at by choosing the appropriate weights. The 45 minute format removes the tricep & bicep tracks for a quicker, but still efficient workout.

  • BombayJam: Bombay Jam is a rocking workout set to top hits from Bollywood movies, which includes a warm up, solid cardio, muscle-shredding toning & a cool down/stretch. Packed with vibrant, authentic Bollywood flavor…this workout is totally addictive!

  • Cardio Dance: Cardio Dance is an exhilarating cardio class to radio hits (pop, club, hip hop) that uses music & easy-to-follow moves combining fast & slow rhythms (interval training) to tone & sculpt your body while burning fat.

  • Explore BodyPump: Have you always wanted to join one of the most popular group fitness classes but don't know what to expect? Have you heard the buzz around epic music, a powerful workout, and the Rep Effect but feel overwhelmed? Join us in learning BodyPump! You'll learn the equipment, what weight is best for you, and test out a short workout to set you up for success!  

  • Explore Zumba: Have you always wanted to join one of the most popular group fitness classes but don't know what to expect? Have you heard the buzz around energetic music, an empowering workout, and the interval-style, calorie-burning dance party but feel overwhelmed? Join us in learning how to ZUMBA! You'll learn the basic moves and how the choreography works to set yourself up for success!

  • HIIT Strength: HIIT Strength allows you to never choose between aerobic & resistance training again! Explore the benefits & challenges of two of our most popular classes. This is a hard hitting combo of HIIT training & muscle work that creates a best of both worlds format! 

  • Kickboxing: Kickboxing uses easy-to-follow kick & punch combinations for a total body cardio workout!

  • Middle Eastern Dance (Belly dancing): Middle Easter Dance offers fluid motions to help loosen muscle, build stamina, balance, flexibility & strength.
     
  • Pilates: Pilates focuses on proper body alignment, technique & posture based on the basic Joseph Pilates’ exercise method.
     
  • Power Tone: Power Tone incorporates strength, balance & flexibility training using various equipment to bring body changing results.
     
  • *SilverSneakers® Classic: SilverSneakers Classis allows you to have fun & move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to improve balance, flexibility, muscular strength & range of motion for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles & a ball are offered for resistance & a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
     
  • Step: Step offers a single or double step cardio workout. Fun choreography keeps you moving & grooving.
     
  • Stretch & Restore: Stretch & Restore is a deep stretch class that will improve joint flexibility, balance & free stagnation in the muscle tissue & lubricate the joints. This is not a gentle yoga or meditative practice but a straightforward and intense stretch session focused on increasing range of motion & decreasing risk of injury for active individuals. 
     
  • STRONG Nation™: STRONG Nation™ combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio & plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. Every squat, every lunge, every burpee is driven by the music, helping you make it to that last rep & maybe even five more.
     
  • Strong30™: A revolutionary 30-minute, high-intensity, full body workout where every single cardio and muscle-conditioning move is perfectly synced to original music. Don't count reps, train to the beat and torch more calories.
     
  • Tabata Circuit: (30 minutes) Tabata Circuit will begin with a short warm-up followed by a series of four minute exercise sequences broken into eight (20 seconds of intense work followed by 10 seconds of rest) intervals. Class will end with a short cool down & stretch.
     
  • Turbo Kick®: Turbo Kick is an interval based, full body workout that begins with a sports-specific warm-up. High-paced intervals follow with kickboxing-specific strength/endurance training sequences & easy-to-follow combinations. Class ends with a mind/body-like (think Tai-Chi) cool-down.
     
  • Ultimate Circuit: Ultimate Circuit incorporates cardio & strength training segments, increasing the overall intensity of the class. This class focuses on all major muscle groups to improve muscular tone, endurance, strength & cardiovascular fitness.
     
  • Zumba®: Zumba is a calorie-burning dance fitness party where Latin & World rhythms are combined with easy-to-follow moves. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast & slow rhythms are combined to tone & sculpt your body while burning fat.
     
  • *Zumba Gold®: Zumba Gold is designed for anyone, any age (13+) & any ability level! This class is less intense than Zumba, but using the same rhythms & is guaranteed to be fun & effective total body workout.
     
  • Xabeat: Xabeat is a dance-fitness program that provides high intensity cardio & toning in a party like atmosphere. The routines are simple & easy to follow so participants can concentrate on getting a better workout! XaBeat class participants sculpt their bodies & burn calories without even realizing they are working out. This is why they keep coming back for more!

YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  • *Chair Yoga: Chari Yoga is a unique yoga style that adapts yoga positions & poses through creative use of a yoga chair. The chair is used for support during standing poses, forward & backward bends, side extensions, balancing, & leg & arm stretches. Chair Yoga is suitable for all ages (13+), fitness levels & physical conditions.
  • *Gentle Yoga: Gentle Yoga lets you slow down & reap the rewards of a gentle approach to yoga. This class incorporates yoga props to support the body & customize the poses to suit each student’s individual needs. The class is fitting for students who are new to yoga, students who have physical limitations or are recovering from injury & students who want to have a less rigorous  & more relaxing practice.

  • *Adult/Child Yoga (Seasonal Offering) Adult Child Yoga invites Moms, Grandmas, Aunties, Dads, Grandpas, Uncles & Guardians to bring your favorite littles for a lovely & unique experience with our special Gentle Yoga class. The class is separated by age 4-6 year olds & 7-10 year olds. Free for 1 adult Y member & up to 2 children. No registration required. 
  • Yoga Level 1 – Foundational: Build a solid foundation in the basic poses. Level 1 classes are appropriate for those who are newer to yoga as well as continuing students who are looking to refine their experience.

  • Yoga Level 2 – Foundational + Flow: Flow through your practice as you deepen your understanding of the poses. Level 2 classes continue to develop the foundational poses while accommodating a broader range of experience levels. Prior yoga experience & familiarity with basic poses recommended.
  • Yoga Level 3 – Vigorous: Deepen your practice & challenge yourself physically & mentally. For more advanced practitioners, Level 3 classes work from a base of vigorous sun salutations to explore more challenging variations of poses. Not for beginners – prior yoga experience strongly recommended.

  • YogaSculpt- YogaSculpt is for yogis looking to break a sweat & leave feeling uplifted & refreshed. Yoga Sculpt gets the blood pumping & the breath flowing, in a high-intensity, dynamic yoga practice that incorporates resistance interval training & cardiovascular exercise, into traditional yoga sequences & provides a full body workout that focuses on strengthening, lengthening, balancing & fortifying from the outside in.


CYCLING CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

If you are new to our Cycle classes please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class start time so we can assist you in fitting your bike. ​​

  • Cycling: Cycling is one of the most popular group fitness classes at the Y. No complicated choreography with easy to learn techniques. Intensity is controlled by you, making cycling appropriate for all levels of fitness.\

 

  • Explore Cycle: Have you always wanted to join one of the most popular group fitness classes but don't know what to expect? Have you heard the buzz around great music, a powerful workout, and our Coach by Color system but feel overwhelmed? Join us in learning how to CYCLE! You'll get your bike fitted and test out a short workout to set you up for success.

 

  • *Slow Riders:  Slow Riders is a more gentle cycle class geared toward the novice rider. This class will consist of 45 minutes of steady cycling cadence.

 

Classes marked with * are specifically designed to meet the needs of active older adults.
